The region of Pantanal Sur is situated 236 km away from the city of Campo Grande , State of Mato Grosso do Sul, where the flood zones that dominate the landscape, and the large volumes of water make it a constantly changing landscape. Meet alligators, deers, and a great number of multicoloured birds "face to face". These species of strange beauty have chosen the Pantanal as one of the three most important ecosystems in the world for their migrant routes.
The Ecological Refuge Caiman is situated in this natural paradise, it consists of a former ranch of an area of 53.000 ha , that connects with an information post and an private ecological reserve of 7.000 ha . It coexists in total harmony with an animal farm, making it possible to keep nature untouched and at the same time provide some sustenance to the local communities. The Refuge is formed by the Main lodge and 3 additional lodges, strategically located. They are: Main Caiman Lodge, and the secondary lodges Piuva , Cordilheira and Bahiazinha .
Each lodge is independent and they present different architectural styles. The whole complex is closed during January. At that time, guests can only be accommodated under " run of the house " concept, and it is only at the moment of confirmation that they inform which lodge will provide the services.

Main Caiman Lodge
Colonial spanish style building, it has 11 rooms with private bathroom and air conditioning. Swimming pool, restaurant serving typical dishes, living room, Tv and video.

Totally constructed in wood, this lodge is located in the end of a small permanent inlet. Country style, it has 6 rooms with private bathroom, balcony, and fan. The social area consists of a large living room, a small local restaurant and a tower that allows the view of wildlife. It is 9 km away from the main Lodge.

Notes
All the lodges offer the same programmes, they are 3 daily activities: in the morning, afternoon and night. Going outs on boat, night departures for observation of alligators hypnotized by the torchlights, cavalcades, photography safaris and interpretation trails among others.
Expert guides go along with visitors during all the scheduled activities, they are university students in Biology , Zoology or Botany. Visitors may also exchange information on this particular region with the "caboclos", natural inhabitants of this region with extensive in-depth knowledge of it.
